The Counterterrorism for Law Enforcement Training Program (CLETP) is a comprehensive, 3 day (24 hour) training program designed to train law enforcement officers and investigators to understand, detect, combat and investigate potential terrorist and extremist activity occurring in the United States.

With aspects of domestic and international terrorism always changing, law enforcement needs to keep current on the changes and trends in order to predict and interdict terrorist events.  The CLETP is a specialized program covering a wide range of topics on terrorism in the 21st Century and provides counterterrorism training that is completely separate from First Responder and Weapon of Mass Destruction awareness and response training.

Some topics covered, include:

· Nature and History of Terrorism

· Motivations, Ideology and Psychology of Terrorists

· Terrorist Group Organization to include recruiting, leadership, membership structure and terrorist networks

· Analysis of the Behavior Patterns of Terrorists to include an analysis of lifestyle, Utopian worldviews, motivations on planning and characteristics

· Islam and Terrorism to include core beliefs and an examination of the holy war in the Quran

· Terrorist Planning Cycle

· 7 Signs of Terrorism

· Terrorist Exploitation of Traditional Intelligence Gathering Techniques to include surveillance tactics and use of open source and human intelligence

· Suicide Attacks/Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices

· Examination of Al-Azhar University and how terrorists are trained

· Examination of Foiled Terrorist Plots

· Arabic and Islamic Cultures

· Working with Arabic Names to include name origin, determining identity, analyzing names and the use of nicknames
